Nex-Tech has an exciting career opportunity for an Engineering Technician to join our team!
Our Engineering Technicians prepare, update, and maintain construction sheets, maps, cable records, and other plant records for outside plant facilities. Duties will include splicing and testing of copper and fiber optic cable for new and restoration projects, completion of cost-studies of proposed construction plans to determine feasibility of projects, and inspection of all aspects of contracted work under construction. The employee will also prepare cutover sheets and update subscriber information with plant records.
Skills:
- Knowledge of engineering practices and CAD capabilities.
- Knowledge of RUS and NEC codes and practices.
- Knowledge of communications system operations and outside plant construction activities.
- Ability to operate and maintains various testing, installation, and repair equipment.
- Skill in splicing copper and fiber optic cables using fusion splicer.
- Skill in testing fiber optic cables using an OTDR.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree, or the equivalent, plus five years of experience or equivalent work experience in construction, engineering, or plant operations.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
