Position Description:  Reporting to the Assistant Provost for Teaching Innovation and Learning Technologies (TILT), the Instructional Technologist is responsible for the creation and production of multimedia learning objects, lecture capture, and supplemental materials to incorporate in courses under development. The position directly supports faculty, staff and students in the use of technology-based teaching and learning tools.  Is a partner in the learning and design process to ensure that the best use of available teaching methods and technology is used to enhance student learning.  
 
The Instructional Technologist must be team-oriented, as the position involves working closely with the instructional design team, academic departments, and faculty to ensure a high-quality learning experience for students, and the deployment of tools and platforms that enhance the learning experience. The Instructional Technologist also manages video management system, professional development training platform, and other software as necessary to support faculty and staff. This is an on-campus position located in Hays, Kansas. 
 
Minimum Qualifications
·         Bachelor's Degree 
·         Three years demonstrated experience in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or similar role. Related advanced degree may count toward experience. 
·         Direct experience using one or more web-based learning management systems (LMS) 
·         Experience working with learning design tools and platforms 
 
Preferred Qualifications
·         Master’s degree with 3 years demonstrated experience in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Education, or related disciplines 
·         Experience in higher education, in teaching, faculty development, and/or instructional technologies 
·         Knowledge of multimedia production software, such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and Audacity 
·         Knowledge of authoring tools, such as Adobe Captivate, DominKnow, Articulate 
·         Experience with Zoom or other synchronous communication software. 
·         Ability to manage, develop, and support student learning and faculty development projects 
·         Proven record of positive, collaborative working relationships with diverse colleagues, students, and faculty with different levels of technical knowledge 
·         Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills 
 
Appointment Date: Start date to be determined after acceptance of an offer and completion of criminal background check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
·         Utilize instructional design principles to design training workshops and develop course materials in support of teaching and professional development initiatives 
·         Coordinate and assist in the creation and curation of instructional media- activities include: 
o    Produce video, and lecture capture, production for instruction and faculty development 
o    Maintain VidGrid- the FHSU video content management system 
o    Assist faculty with design and implementation of effective multi-media presentations 
o    Work with vendors on implementation plan and initiatives 
·         Oversee Learning Technologies web presence, media distribution and organization 
o    Web Page management and content creation 
o    Create and publish tutorials in support of TILT’s educational technology initiatives 
o    Create content for and update the Learning Technologies website and blog 
·         Train and support faculty and instructors in the use of teaching and learning technologies with special attention to best practices for improving learning outcomes and active learning via face-to-face workshops and self-directed online courses. 
·         Collaborates on evaluation and review of proposed new and current learning technologies that support innovative approaches to learning, instruction, and assessment. 
·         Coordinates and participates in the development and implementation of project plans 
 
Ancillary Duties and Responsibilities: 
·         Provide technical support assistance for other learning technologies supported by TILT, including the process of piloting new technologies; 
·         To become an active member of FHSU by serving on committees and being involved with the FHSU community 
·         Engage in professional development activities, including attending and presenting at conferences, participating in webinars, and reading current research to stay abreast of developments in the field; and 
·         Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Provost TILT.
