Position Description:  The University Website Operations Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of the Fort Hays State University website, including design, support, development, and optimization. Creates strategies to develop and produce websites and web content that are consistent with the university's brand and that promote its mission, goals, and objectives. Determines the university's needs and requirements related to communications, public relations, and marketing and builds websites consistent with those objectives. Must have advanced knowledge of technical web applications in order to create both static and dynamic web pages. Works with IT and maintenance to resolve performance issues and maintain the integrity of the university website. 
 

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Website Development, Computer Design, or a related field. Must have at least two years of related, professional experience with website design. 
 
Preferred Qualifications
·         Strong background in HTML5 and CSS3 
·         Experience with web Content Management Systems 
·         Experience with php, javascript, and/or Python 
·         Supervisory experience 
·         5+ years of related experience 
·         SEO strategy experience 
·         Strong understanding of UI/UX design 
·         Google Analytics Certified 
·         WAS (Web Accessibility) Certified 
·         Data analysis

Responsibilities
·         Collect, analyze, and communicate key performance data to key stakeholders about the Fort Hays State University. 
·         Develop, test, and direct the implementation of strategies and tactics to optimize the university’s website for usability and SEO. 
·         Manage, maintain, develop, and support the Fort Hays State University website, including overall design, feature development, template restructuring and design, new website/sub-site design, and troubleshooting. 
·         Ensure that the university website is in line with current web trends and industry standards. Develop and implement content, style, and coding standards for all university web pages. Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and legal standards. 
·         Promote usability throughout the website by developing smart forms for structured data, ensuring layout consistency, and conducting regular performance tests. 
·         Provide advice for best design practices and assist university departments in redesigning webpages. 
·         Define and develop strategic initiatives that work within the university's communication and public relations strategies. 
·         Consult with representatives from each university department regarding their communication needs and goals. Ensure consistency in design standards and appearance across all university departments. 
·         Provide user training, support, and content editing assistance for all users. Manage user security and access. 
·         Provide training and support for additional software to be used in conjunction with the university website. 
·         Design, create, and manage various university websites. Oversee the content and technical development of said websites. Supervise the maintenance schedule and resolve performance issues in a timely manner. 
·         Perform technical tasks related to launching sites, HTML coding, JavaScript, dynamic web applications, interactive databases, uploading material, ensuring working site links, and maintaining servers. 
·         Serve as a project manager for major website updates, revisions, and initiatives. Ensure that the university community is aware of updates, changes, and construction to the website that may affect their daily activities. 
·         Collaborate with IT staff in order to provide high quality website performance, reliable communication, and continuous innovation regarding University web content. 
·         Monitor and update website content to ensure copy is organized, accurate, and professional. 
·         Create graphics and acquire photography for use on the university homepage, banners, spotlights, and other features. 
·         Create policy and perform design, maintenance, and support for websites in previous application platforms and sub-sites. 
·         Assist with digital marketing initiatives. 
·         Chair the University Website Committee and participate on other relevant committees across campus. 
·         Hire, supervise, and train staff and student employees. 
·         Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
