This is a non-tenure track faculty position to teach 24 credit hours (4-4 load) per year for FHSU’s Communication Studies program. Duties include mentoring students, engagement in scholarly activities, providing service to the community, the profession, the department, the college, and the university. Teaching areas specifically include: General education courses, Communication, General Communication and Public speaking. This is an on-campus position located on the Fort Hays State University campus in Hays, KS, but interest, experience and ability to teach online is expected as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 18 graduate hours completed in Communication, Mass Communication, or a closely related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications: An earned terminal degree from an accredited institution in Communication, Mass Communication or a closely related field is preferred. Two or more years of recent college level teaching experience, and an active program of scholarship and service is desired.

About the Program:
Communication Studies offers a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with concentrations in Applied Communication, Organizational Communication, and Public Relations/Advertising. The Applied Communication/General Communication BA is available through FHSU Online.

Communication Studies consists of 4 full-time faculty members, and 8 adjuncts, who serve approximately 50 majors, as well as staffing more than 70 sections of general-education courses a year. These courses include offering COMM 100—Fundamentals of Oral Communication, a required foundation course, and offering two general education electives, COMM 125—Introduction to Motion Pictures and COMM 318—Introduction to Organizational Communication.
