Position Description:
Located on the campus of Fort Hays State University, the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center (PAC) is an 1100 seat roadhouse venue that opened in 1991 after a complete renovation. The PAC serves the campus and community as a beautiful performance space for music recitals, concerts, touring shows, dance recitals, and more. 
 
The Production Support Technical Coordinator is responsible for operating and maintaining the facility’s technical systems and leading a staff of student employees to assist in performing those tasks. This includes proficiency in all technical aspects (lighting, audio, video, fly system, etc.), and assistance in the upkeep and maintenance of the facility’s equipment. The Production Support Technical Coordinator will be responsible to learn and utilize these systems to execute daily activities for a wide range of events. They will be responsible to train and lead a team of student employees to achieve the desired goals of guest satisfaction, seamless equipment operation, and quality upkeep of the facility. 
Reports to: Production Systems Manager 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent years of related work experience 
 
Preferred Qualifications
·         3 or more years of technical theatre experience. 
·         Experience with technical theatre production process and/or front of house operations. 
·         Eager to learn new technology and skills in live events. 
·         Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical procedures verbally or in writing. 
·         Strong technical troubleshooting skills. 
·         Experience with basic structured wiring tasks such terminating, soldering, documenting, etc. 
·         Knowledge and experience with audio mixing, microphone techniques, proper sound system deployment/configuration/tuning, analog audio routing, and digital audio networking (Dante, AES), Yamaha and Behringer audio consoles. 
·         Knowledge and experience with theatrical lighting practices, conventional lighting fixtures, LED lighting fixtures, moving head light fixtures, proper focus, and programming techniques on ETC EOS and Elation Onyx consoles. 
·         Projection and projection control software experience including QLab and Pro Presenter. 
 
Appointment Date:
Start date will be determined after acceptance of an offer and background check clearance.

Responsibilities: 
·         Oversight of all theater technical needs. 
·         Advance all incoming events for technical needs in coordination with the Production Systems Manager. 
·         Coordinate show needs with Production Systems Manager. 
·         Hire, train and supervise a support team of six student employees. Provide extensive and on-going training, schedule student staff to fill technical roles during all events in the venue. 
·         Responsible for care and maintenance of facility’s equipment. 
·         Arrange for or hire necessary labor employees contractually required for touring shows. 
·         Manages time sheets for all support team student employees, and any students or temporary staff members hired to work for the Encore series shows. 
·         Working closely with touring crews to facilitate their needs. 
·         For touring events, provides on-site supervision of road crews and student stage crews, directs technical elements for events including but not limited to staging, lighting, sound, labor, safety, rigging, and house management. 
·         Setup and operate audio, lighting, and video systems as needed for scheduled events. 
·         Live stream events when requested. 
·         Records live performances as requested by artists or colleagues. 
·         Repair and maintain theater technical equipment. 
·         Maintains stage, scene shop and storage areas in clean and orderly condition. 
·         Recommends and implements upgrades to existing audio, video, lighting systems and equipment inventory. 
·         Promote safe practices in all areas of theatre operations. 
·         Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends as needed. 
·         Excellent customer service skills dealing with university faculty and staff, public, and other production staff. 
·         Ability to lift and carry up to 50-75 lbs at one time. 
·         Willing to work on catwalks, platform lifts, at heights, and on ladders. 
·         Effectively collaborate with team members at all levels with a positive and willing attitude. 
·         Basic skills on Windows and Mac computers.  Working knowledge of networking technologies. 
·         Safely operate a mixed single/double purchase manual counterweight rigging system. 
·         Flexibility to deal with last minute changes in a fluid work environment.
