The Kansas Department of Transportation is looking for a dependable, trainable, team player with good engineering, supervisor, and communication skills to become part of our family. Currently hiring a Construction Engineering Associate III position located in Hays, KS.
Position Duties & Responsibilities: This position provides engineering guidance and administration for the construction of highway and related construction projects. This involves interpreting specifications, plans and special provisions and the supervision of other engineers and engineering technicians. Provides effective leadership to work unit through priority outcomes, performance reviews, coaching and counseling, discipline and providing developmental opportunities for employees. Due to seasonal work, incumbent will be required to work additional hours including nights and weekends. Additional hours will be assigned by the supervisor depending upon the needs of the agency. Provides engineering supervision of field surveys, project design, plan preparation and other duties as assigned. Work is reviewed for compliance and approved written standards, procedures, policies, specifications, and safety requirements.
Due to seasonal work, incumbent may be required to work additional hours including nights and weekends. Additional hours to be assigned by the supervisor depending upon the needs of the agency.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate or an Engineer in Training (EIT)
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of engineering experience.
