Sunflower, a generation and transmission cooperative serving Kansans, is hiring a Transmission Operation Planning Engineer I or II in Great Bend, Garden City, or Hays, Kansas. This position will allow you to use your critical thinking skills to support transmission operational planning and reliable transmission operations in the operating horizon.
Opportunities:
- Assist in the evaluation of new generation resources, reactive power resources, transmission lines, and other network components.
- Collaborate with other operation planning engineers and system operation staff to develop guidelines and system sheets.
- Use your problem-solving skills to evaluate transmission and generation resource outages to ensure reliable operation of the system is maintained.

Qualifications:
Transmission Operation Planning Engineer I:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Emphasis in power system courses and/or related engineering internship or co-op work preferred.
Transmission Operation Planning Engineer II:
- Passing grade on the Fundamental Engineering Exam preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Three years practical utility experience.
