This position is a full-time tenure track faculty appointment teaching 24 credit hours (4-4 load) per year in undergraduate and graduate courses in the Art and Design program. The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in Design with an emphasis in Motion Design and Animation. Duties include mentoring students, engagement in scholarly activities, providing service to the community, the profession, the department, the college, and the university.  We are seeking candidates who are engaged in both experimental explorations of design and practical applications to real-world problems. The ideal candidate will foster growth in the graphic design program and has the ability to adapt to new developments in the field and incorporate them into teaching and practice. Collaborative engagement across disciplines and work towards cohesive student development is expected. The ideal candidate will also provide students with inspiration, leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a completed MFA degree by August 2023;
  • A thorough knowledge of Motion Design and Animation and generally the graphic design field including expertise in graphics hardware and software expertise in Macintosh OS;
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standard software within the Adobe Creative Suite including Cinema 4D,
    After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MFA and experience in multidisciplinary and collaborative approaches to teaching within integrated and cross-disciplinary media arts programs that include digital art, web design, and video;
  • Evidence of teaching at the college or university level in digital media or 3-5 years of professional experience in the field of Graphic Design and/or Motion Design and Animation with a fluency in digital media.

About the Program:
The Art and Design program is housed in a new state-of-the-art facility with an attached art gallery which opened in
fall 2019. This 47,000+ square foot art facility—along with the newly constructed 12,000 square foot sculpture facility—is equipped with the latest technology and innovation in studio art and design.

We offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with six concentrations: Graphic Design, Motion Design and Animation, Interior Design, Photography, Studio Art (Drawing, Printmaking, Painting, Sculpture, and Ceramics), and Studio Art with Teacher Certification. We also offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art, Art Education or Art History. Our innovative Master of Fine Arts program allows students to enroll year-round or as low residency in some of the programs. We also offer a Master of Liberal Studies with a concentration in Art/Art History. In addition, Art and Design faculty offer courses in the general education program including Approaches to Creativity, Fundamentals and Appreciation of Art, and Survey of Art History.
