Firefighter

The City of Hays is looking for its next career Firefighter.  If you are looking for a rewarding hands-on career, this is the job for you!

After completion of the training period, this position works 24-hour shifts (7am – 7am) every third day. Weekend & holiday work is required. Firefighters are expected to respond to recalls and other major emergency calls when off-duty.

REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license & high school diploma or GED required. Firefighter I & EMT Certifications preferred but not required. Paid on-the-job training for the right candidate. All Firefighters must establish their primary residence within the approved district within six-months of appointment.  Job offers contingent on pre-employment physical exam & drug screening.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Starting Base Pay: $37,331 annually plus additional overtime and holiday pay compensation. Additional pay may be available for experience with opportunities to advance to a Senior Firefighter.
