Check-In Nurse

Knoll Clinic


Position Summary
The Check-In Nurse  is responsible for greeting patients, completing intake procedures, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for provider evaluation. This role supports providers and nursing staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and quality patient care.


Essential Job Duties

Patient Check-In & Intake
  • Greet patients and verify identity.
  • Obtain and document vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation, height, weight, BMI).
  • Record reason for visit and patient concerns.
  • Update and review medication list, allergies, and medical history.
  • Complete required health screenings (pain, depression, fall risk, tobacco/alcohol use).
  • Enter intake data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).


Clinical Support
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms before and after visits.
  • Collect specimens (urine, swabs, stool) and perform point-of-care testing as assigned.
  • Perform basic procedures (EKG, glucose checks, rapid strep/flu/COVID tests).
  • Assist with immunizations and injections (we will train)
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for laboratory testing. (we will train)
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during exams.


Patient Flow & Coordination
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and notify providers when ready.
  • Maintain smooth patient flow to reduce wait times.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with necessary supplies.


Communication & Documentation
  • Document all patient intake and observations accurately in EHR.
  • Report abnormal findings or patient concerns promptly to the provider.
  • Provide after-visit instructions and patient education as directed.


Administrative Support
  • Assist front desk with check-in/check-out as needed.
  • Answer patient calls/messages within scope of practice.
  • Schedule labs, imaging, or specialist referrals as directed.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.


Qualifications
  • Previous clinical or outpatient experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer and EHR skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills.
  • Phlebotomy skills and experience preferred (venipuncture and specimen handling). (we will train)

Full Time Position
Hours: Monday- Thursday 8-12 1-5 Fridays 8-12
