The Department of Teaching Innovation and Learning Technologies at FHSU seeks an enthusiastic and adaptable Instructional Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in teaching who is passionate about technology and eager to learn about instructional design. Reporting to the Assistant Provost for Teaching Innovation and Learning Technologies, you will work closely with faculty to enhance online courses and support innovative teaching strategies. This is an on-campus position located in Hays, Kansas.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Education, Technology, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of teaching or related experience
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse colleagues
  • Basic familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard Learn)
  • Proven ability to learn and adapt to new concepts and technologies rapidly

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with online or blended teaching
  • Basic understanding of instructional design principles
  • Familiarity with educational technologies and digital tools for teaching
  • Experience in project management or content production
  • Knowledge of accessibility considerations in online learning

The successful candidate will be provided with ongoing professional development opportunities to build expertise in instructional design and educational technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate appropriate technology into their courses
  • Assist in designing engaging online learning activities and assessments
  • Provide support and guidance to faculty throughout the course development process
  • Learn and apply instructional design principles and best practices for online education
  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new educational technologies
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with educational trends
