Reporting to the Director of Professional Development, the Faculty Development Training Specialist is a vital member of the Teaching Innovation and Learning Technologies (TILT) team. TILT’s professional development programming focuses on pedagogy, educational technology, service, scholarly research, and professional growth; and is designed and facilitated in a variety of formats, from face-to-face workshops to asynchronous online trainings. The Faculty Development Training Specialist is a full-time, on-campus position located in Hays, Kansas.

About the Department
While serving a lead role in advancing institutional goals and learning, Teaching Innovation and Learning Technologies (TILT) collaborates with offices across campus to create and sustain an environment of empowering professional development, skilled confidential consulting, expert instructional design, and specialized educational technology for faculty and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Teaching Innovation and Learning Technologies (TILT) unit by supporting mission and goals, as well as being an engaged contributor in TILT programs and projects.
  • Works with Director of Professional Development to design, develop, facilitate, assess, and evaluate professional development for faculty and staff in a variety of delivery modes: on-ground, online synchronous, and online asynchronous.
  • Assists with new faculty and staff orientation and university-wide professional development events.
  • Works to establish partnerships with other FHSU offices and units, to collaborate on projects that enhance teaching excellence, scholarship, and professional growth.
  • Manages adjunct orientation, training, ongoing support, and recognition.
  • Designs professional development materials and content for the TILT website and TigerLearn blog.
  • Engages in professional development, conducts research, presents, or publishes on professional development, instructional, or related practices.
  • Co-chairs adjunct faculty advisory committee and is an active member of the university community via additional committees as appropriate.
  • Continuously increases proficiency in learning design technologies to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Professional Development or Assistant Provost of Teaching Innovation & Learning Technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Teaching experience (elementary, secondary, or post-secondary)
  • Competency in verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially within a team
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in adult education, curriculum & instruction, psychology, communications, human resources, or related field
  • Online teaching experience
  • Higher education experience
  • Post-secondary teaching experience (adjunct, part-time, or full-time).
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching and workplace practices
  • Experience with multimedia authoring tools, educational technologies used in higher education settings, and video conferencing platforms
  • Competency with LMS (e.g., Blackboard)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
