The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the warehouse operation shipping and receiving.  Responsible for training operators on inspection of inbound enzymes, pallets, 50 pound and bulk bags according to SQF and the Production Manual procedures.  Training and verifying inspection and loading of van trucks, bulk trucks and rail cars.  Assign daily tasks, ensure completion of the master cleaning schedule.  Responsible for ordering packaging supplies and managing inventory. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 

  • Oversee the operation of the packaging line, including setting the line, loading the bag magazine and setting the printer to correct lot number. 
  • Operate the toter for bulk bags, checking magnets and cleaning the tote chute. 
  • Ensure operators properly operate forklifts and ensure staging or product procedures are followed. 
  • Knowledge of the metal detector and understanding the importance of the test wands. 
  • Ability to correctly assign a daily lot number  to packaged product. 
  • Responsible for reporting metal detection findings to operations manager 
  • Responsible for placing HOLD placards on product in the warehouse and segregating product 
  • Generates Warehouse reports. 
  • Filling in for operators when needed. 
  • Making sure all equipment is running smoothly. 
  • Maintaining inventory and shipments. 
  • Verify and send out work requests to operations manager. 
  • Verification of SQF documents. 
  • Sanitation and housekeeping. 
  • Assign ERPortal purchase order numbers. 
  • Glass & Plastic inspection. 
  • Conduct bandage and ear plug metal detection 
  • Food Safety Committee and food safety committee member. 
  • Scale house ,outbound finished product paperwork, light maintenance repairs as needed, follow safe work procedures, 
  • Understand and follow all SQF and FSMA policies. 
  • BOL –paperwork and tracking railcars. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education/Certification:    High school diploma or equivalent certificate required. 
                                                
Required Knowledge 
& Experience:                       
  • Five or more years in warehouse operations.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
Skills/Abilities: 
  • Ability to learn and work effectively with the packaging line and metal detector. ·
  • Ability to operate a forklift effectively and efficiently
  • Capable of completing required food safety inspections and documenting.
  • Punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines. 
  • Ability to maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with truck drivers and employees at all levels of the organization. 
  • Ability to communicate information and state problems or challenges to be resolved in a clear, concise, courteous, nondiscriminatory and professional manner and be able to provide clarification as necessary. 
Capable of adapting, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in how business is conducted and work is accomplished, with no diminishment in work performance.  PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION 
  • Significant amount of time will be spent standing and lifting 50 pounds bags off the packaging line. 
  • During the spring and summer months there will be exposure to hot and humid conditions. 
  • Must be able to frequently get on and off forklift and reaching above head level to install a bulk bag on the toter.
  • Must be able to speak and listen clearly. Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy.
