Position: Mobile Crisis Response Certified Peer Specialist

Location: Hays, Kansas

Pay: $28.09 per hour | $325 sign-on bonus

Job Type: Full-time | In-person

Schedule: 4pm-12am | Rotating weekly schedule with alternating weekends and holidays | [On-call Rotation]

Why You Should Apply:

At HPMHC, we believe your story has the power to change lives. Every challenge you’ve faced, every step you’ve taken toward recovery, and every lesson you’ve learned along the way can become a source of hope for someone else.

We’re looking for a Certified Peer Specialist to join our Mobile Crisis Response Team — a dedicated group of professionals who respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises throughout Northwest Kansas.

This is more than just a job — it’s a calling. It’s a chance to use your lived experience to lift others up, to meet people in their darkest moments, and to show them that healing and recovery are possible.

If you’re ready to make a lasting difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you! APPLY HERE TODAY!

What You’ll Do:

· Respond to crisis situations wherever they occur — homes, schools, hospitals, or community settings — providing emotional support, de-escalation, and hope.
· Share your personal recovery journey to help others feel understood, accepted, and inspired to take positive steps toward their own recovery.
· Help individuals identify their strengths, goals, and coping strategies so they can build resilience and confidence for the future.
· Connect people to community supports and resources.
· Collaborate closely with mental health professionals, law enforcement, hospitals, and local agencies to ensure each person receives coordinated, compassionate care.
· Provide crisis intervention through telehealth when in-person response isn’t immediately possible — because timely help can make all the difference.
· Model recovery-oriented living through authenticity, respect, and positive engagement.
· Document interactions, safety plans, and follow-ups clearly and accurately to support ongoing treatment and continuity of care.
· Travel throughout Northwest Kansas to meet individuals where they are — because hope and healing don’t always wait for office hours. [Center vehicle provided]
