High Plains Mental Health Center currently has a full time position opening in the Hays Main Building for a School Liaison.


New employees will receive a $325 sign-on bonus following successful completion of their 90 day orientation period.

 Qualifications:  (1) Have at least a BA/BS degree or be equivalently qualified by work experience or a combination of work experience in the human services field and education with one year of experience substituting for one year of education; (2) possess demonstrated interpersonal skills, ability to build positive working relationships with school systems and other community partners, ability to work with youth experiencing severe emotional disturbance and their families, and the ability to react effectively in a wide variety of human service situations 

The School Liaison’s work focuses on coordinating with area school systems to achieve early identification, referral and monitoring of youth in need of mental health services.   Duties will include building strong partnerships with key school staff/administration and engaging with parents/caregivers in order to ensure timely access to mental health services.   The School liaison will assist school personnel, families and treatment teams in identifying and reducing potential barriers to youth participation in appropriate services and level of care.  Additional duties will include provision of psychosocial rehabilitation services on an as needed basis and as adjunct to those being provided by assigned treatment team.   The services of the School Liaison are designed to assist youth in attaining the highest level of functioning in the school setting as well as achieving normally interdependent adjustment in the home and community.


Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license and a good driving record with no alcohol related incidents within the last five years. Must also be able to successfully pass an intensive background check.
