The School-Age Program for the Hays Area Children's Center has a long history of being a busy and engaging program. The program will have a new location this year that is centrally located to multiple activities for the children to be involved in. The position is supervisory in nature. You will manage 2-3 teachers and assist them with management of their classes. You will have involvement with families. You will have involvement with the administrative team at HACC. You will help plan and implement the summer schedule of activities for this program, under the direction of the administrative team at HACC. This is a full-time position and you will be working Monday - Friday. The position will mostly be during the summer months (our program runs June 1 - August 14), but you will have planning and coordination work prior to the beginning of the program - though that will be on a part-time basis. This is a perfect job for school district staff who are on break for the summer, but looking for extra income.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise and evaluate assigned lead teachers, paraeducators and/or work study students at School Age Program.
2. Represent the agency in the community and with other cooperating agencies.
3. Communicate with families and the community regarding aspects of the programs.
4. Act as instructional and curriculum leader for program.
5. Schedule and plan activities for assigned children.
6. Be responsible for assigned groups and individual children by:
a. Writing group goals and objectives.
b. Writing daily lesson plans to meet group needs.
c. Using positive techniques to manage student behaviors.
7. Manage program budget and purchase materials, equipment, and recreational activities.
8. Collaborate and consult with other professionals.
9. Consult with Child Care Coordinator or Child Care Center Director regarding concerns, solutions and progress.
