The Coordinator for Marketing & Recruitment oversees recruitment and marketing efforts for the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science (KAMS) at Fort Hays State University.  KAMS recruitment and marketing focuses on identifying and connecting with prospective students throughout the state of Kansas.  This position manages the admissions processes including the evaluation of student applications. A successful candidate must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, possess strong written and interpersonal communication skills, and be highly detailed and organized. Some domestic travel, including overnight and weekend travel, will be required. This is an on-campus position, located on the Fort Hays State University campus in Hays, Kansas. 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, strong written and interpersonal communication skills, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel in the state of Kansas.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in higher education recruitment, marketing, or related fields
  • Experience giving professional presentations
  • Experience in writing advertising, marketing, or strategic communications content
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Strong understanding and ability to maintain student confidentiality

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement short and long-term recruitment strategies and marketing initiatives to bring highly talented students to KAMS.
  • Manage the program’s admission process, including evaluating student applications and transcripts along with Director.
  • Develop the program’s print and digital recruitment materials.
  • Conduct state-wide and regional in-person information sessions, presentations, school visits, and professional conference vending.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate on-campus and virtual recruitment events.
  • Assist students and families through the admission and enrollment processes.
  • Manage the program’s social media channels.
  • Assist the Director in building relationships with outside stakeholders, including K-12 personnel, governing bodies, and relevant educational organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director.
