The Enterprise Technology Support Director (a.k.a. TigerTech Director) position is a full-time, 12-month, permanent staff position in the Department of Technology Services at Fort Hays State University. This is primarily an on-campus position, though occasional remote work is possible. The position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Technology Services and CIO position. Normal work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – Friday, and summer hours are from 7:30 AM to 5:00PM Monday – Thursday, and 7:30AM to 11:30AM on Friday. Occasionally, the job duties may require work to be outside of those normal hours. 
 
The Enterprise Technology Support Director will manage the TigerTech team consisting of 6 additional full-time staff and 10-20 student employees. The successful applicant will work well independently or within a team setting. This person must be able to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, as well as manage staff by assigning tasks/projects and escalating issues appropriately. The applicant will need to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately with Fort Hays State University faculty, staff, and students. 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Some of the primary duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: 
  • Manage/Supervise TigerTech staff 
  • Manage the day to day operations of tier 2 desktop support and tier 1 phone support for faculty, staff, and students
  • Design, obtain, and implement technology systems for internal operations of TigerTech.
  • Collect data metrics and make decisions and/or recommendations based on the data regarding Tier 1 and Tier 2 support. 
  • Occasionally take service calls for situations that require escalated level of support.
  • Research, evaluate, and answer questions regarding various user technologies (hardware and software) for the entire university.
  • Procure hardware (laptops, desktops, associated peripherals) for the entire university and  maintain a stock of common products and peripherals.
  • Develop University standards for end user computer hardware
  • Work with Tech Services Management team to provide unified solutions to various technological challenges
  • Serve as Project Manager for larger projects within TigerTech (eg. campus computer refreshes, major software change rollouts, etc).
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. 
  • 3 years of experience providing technology support. 
  • 1 year of management/supervisory experience.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Familiar with of a variety of types of hardware and brands of hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, keyboards, mice, webcams, etc).
  • Familiar with a wide range of operating systems and software
  • 5+ years of experience providing technology support
  • 2+ years of management/supervisory experience
 
APPOINTMENT DATE:  March 2023

SALARY: Base salary starts at $70,000 annual salary, negotiable depending on experience.
