GENERAL FUNCTION:
To monitor the status of the electric generation, transmission and distribution systems, coordinate switching operations with field personnel, and direct the safe and efficient operation of the electric transmission network under both normal and emergency operations.

EDUCATION:
An Associate Degree in Electrical Transmission Systems Technology, Business or a related field is required.

EXPERIENCE:
Previous work experience at either an electric utility company in one or more of the following areas: line construction or service, power plant operation, electric utility equipment maintenance, energy accounting or power purchasing, or system operation is preferred.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
A thorough understanding of an Energy Management System or SCADA system would be helpful, but not required. However, experience in the use of computers, and particularly spreadsheet or database applications, is required.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
System security and employee safety are dependent on clarity and accuracy of communications and interpretation of written and oral procedures and directives. Ability to read and interpret computer spread sheets, weather reports, switching maps and operating directives, and other recorded documents required for System Operation. Must have considerable skill in effectively dealing with a variety of people under difficult circumstances. Must have the ability to organize work to meet deadlines. Must have good hearing, which can be correctable with hearing aids, in order to hear normal range of voices, as well as audible alarms. Eyesight should be 20/20 vision using glasses or other correction if necessary. Applicant cannot be color blind, as color computer displays are used to indicate equipment status. Speech must be clear, audible, and easily understood, particularly over telephone or radio equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position located at the System Control Center. Rotating shift, holiday work, and some overtime required. Work consists of a variety of technical and skilled mathematical responsibilities to ensure the service territory is supplied with the most reliable power source available and in the most economical manner possible. Must be able to work effectively under both normal and stressful emergency conditions.
