The RN position at Health and Wellness Services is crucial in promoting students' health and well-being within the campus community. This position involves providing nursing care, health education, and support to students, faculty, and staff while collaborating with other health professionals to foster a healthy campus environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct nursing assessments and provide nursing care for students.
- Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations as prescribed.
- Monitor and document health status and response to treatment.
- Assist in managing health-related emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with regulations.
- Participate in campus health initiatives and community outreach programs.
- Provide support and intervention in crisis situations.
- Coordinate with emergency services when needed.
- Provide health education and resources on topics such as nutrition, mental health, sexual health, and substance abuse.
- Develop and implement wellness programs and workshops to promote healthy lifestyle choices.
- Collaborate with campus mental health professionals, counselors, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Present to classes and students as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
- Current unencumbered RN license in Kansas
- Previous experience in a clinical or school health setting is preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a university health center
- 5 or more years experience as an RN
- Bachelor's of nursing (BSN)
Appointment Date: July 2025 (10-month appointment, with summers off)
Schedule/Hours: This is a part-time position working 30hrs per week.
