Manufacturing Technician
The Manufacturing Technician fabricates and repairs metal parts used in durable medical equipment. This role operates a variety of machine tools to produce parts that meet quality and safety standards while supporting a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
Fabrication & Production
- Manufacture new and replacement parts for durable medical equipment using machine shop equipment.
- Operate machinery such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and machining instructions.
- Select and adjust tooling, cutting speeds, feed rates, and machine settings to meet specifications.
- Assist with receiving and unloading materials.
- Complete production and maintenance documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Quality & Equipment Maintenance
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Verify products meet quality and dimensional specifications.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Maintain inventory and support compliance with ISO and FDA standards.
Safety & Teamwork
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Participate in safety training and continuous improvement activities.
- Support team goals and assist with additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Basic math skills, including measurements and mechanical calculations.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
- Manual dexterity to safely operate machinery and equipment.
Preferred
- Technical school training, machining certification, or skilled trades education.
- Previous experience operating machine shop equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Certifications
- Ability to obtain Forklift Operator certification.
- Ability to become qualified in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently use hands for handling, gripping, and operating equipment.
- Occasionally bend, kneel, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull materials and products.
- Safely lift and move materials as required by the job.
Work Environment This position works in a manufacturing environment and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and other safety gear as needed. Employees must follow all safety policies regarding clothing, jewelry, and equipment operation.
