The Department of Mathematics at Fort Hays State University is seeking applicants for a nine-month, non-tenure-track faculty position to start Fall 2025. The faculty member will teach a full load (12 credits) of courses during the Fall and Spring semesters. A typical semester of courses may include in-person and online general education courses, courses in the calculus sequence, and upper-division courses. The position will include some opportunities for paid overload, including during the summer session.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated effectiveness teaching online courses
  • A record of developing mathematics courses for online offering

About the Department:
The Department of Mathematics offers two undergraduate programs: BA/BS in Industrial/Academic Mathematics and BA/BS in Mathematics Education. Students may also earn a minor in Mathematics. At the graduate level, a student may earn a Master’s of Science in Education with an emphasis in Mathematics. The Department has 10 full-time faculty positions and is located in a newly renovated space in Rarick Hall, including dedicated mathematics classrooms and meeting spaces.

About the College:
The Werth College of Science, Technology, and Mathematics was formed in 2015 by bringing together the departments of Agriculture, Applied Technology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geosciences, Mathematics, and Physics. The college includes approximately 70 full-time faculty, 1200 undergraduate majors, and 50+ graduate students. It also makes significant contributions to the university’s General Education program and the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science, an early-college program for high-achieving high-school students. Undergraduate students participate in technical, classroom, field, and lab experiences that many schools would reserve for graduate students. Our academic programs are innovative, and our facilities are outstanding.
