Custodian, Fort Hays State University, President’s Residence. This is a benefited part-time position. Regular Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-Noon

Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years custodial experience
  • Must be dog-friendly

Appointment Date: Start date will be determined after acceptance of an offer and background check clearance.

Hourly Rate: $15.03 / hour

Primary responsibility: To maintain the president’s residence with impeccable cleanliness and sanitation standards for the president, her husband, their dog Gracie, and all visitors, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean in such a way as to promote health and safety.
  • Dust and clean facilities and furnishings.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Dust mop under beds
  • Wash cleaning towels.
  • Wipe down cabinets.
  • Disinfect light switches & doorknobs.
  • Clean TV screens
  • Vacuum carpets and area rugs
  • Wipe down window ledges, stairwells, and railings.
  • Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedures and refill restroom dispensers.
  • Wash interior and exterior windows.
  • Water plants.
  • Sweep outside steps to the basement.
  • Clean ceiling fans.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and outside grounds.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
  • Ensure that cleaning supplies are available; manage the use, care, and storage of cleaning supplies.
  • Inform the supervisor of repairs that need to be conducted by members of the maintenance department.
  • Provide set up for dinners, receptions, and other special events.
  • Set up Christmas trees and other holiday decorations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
