Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital - Business Office is looking for a Full-time Patient Accounts Rep - Hospital Biller. 

Position Overview
Responsible for compiling itemized hospital bills, verifying patient insurance coverage and computing patient insurance benefits.  Prepares Good Faith Estimates in accordance with the No Surprise Act.  Calls patients regarding up front collection of payment due at time of service.  Submits, resolves claim denials, and collects payment from commercial insurance companies, state and federal agencies and personal payments.  Works closely with the Admitting Office, Medical Records and physicians' office staff.  Participates in performance improvement and QI activities

RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Submit and follow up on insurance claims (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, liability, and worker’s comp).

·         Analyze and resolve claim denials and underpayments.

·         Coordinates the payment process and collects payments from insurance companies, federal and state agencies and third party payers.

·         Adjusts patients’ bills to reflect credits, debits and balances.

·         Documents all correspondence and conversations with insurance companies, governmental agencies, third party payers and patients on patients’ account.

·         Consults with other hospital departments to obtain, verify billing information.

·         Accepts other assignments as needed.

·         Contacts patients/insurance companies to collect unpaid insurance claims.


 QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
·         High School graduate or equivalent

·         2 years of hospital billing experience including inpatient billing preferred.

·         Patient and pleasant personality; ability to exhibit cooperation and flexibility; works well with a variety of people

·         Must have excellent customer service and phone etiquette skills

·         Detail-oriented and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

·         Capable of maintaining composure in stressful situations
