The Assistant Professor—Informatics position teaches 4 courses in the fall and 4 courses in the spring in the web and mobile application development concentration, teaching both face-to-face and in online modalities.  Job duties include: 80% teaching, including academic advisement; 10% scholarship, including active research; and 10% service to the department and college by building industry partnerships for internships and graduate placement. 

Requires: Master’s degree in Information Technology Management, Computer Science, or related field plus two years of related experience in the informatics industry, or a PhD in Information Technology Management, Computer Science, or related field.

About the Department:
The Department of Informatics at Fort Hays State University is notable for its innovative culture and successes.  The Department was built upon the theme of the movement and use of information.  It has grown strongly over the last decade due to the quality of instruction in serving students and has substantial industry support.  FHSU Informatics currently instructs five undergraduate academic concentrations:  Digital Media Production and Journalism; Web and Mobile Application Development; Computer Networking and Telecommunications; Health Informatics; and Management Information Systems.   It offers multiple graduate degree pathways as well as emphasis options in the MBA program.  In total, the Informatics Department serves more than 500 undergraduate majors and approximately 30 graduate students in a given semester.  It has plans to significantly increase the graduate program.  The department includes 12 full-time faculty, a lab/studio engineer, an administrative assistant, and several adjunct faculty.
