The City of Hays is accepting applications to fill maintenance positions in the Service and Solid Waste Divisions. Duties involve manual labor, equipment operations, snow removal, and minor construction projects. Specialized duties may include concrete, street and alley maintenance; and collecting and processing recyclable materials and special collection items.
Working days include Monday-Friday. These positions may be required to work a flexible work schedule as needed.
REQUIREMENTSValid driver’s license required. Paid on-the-job training for the right candidate. A good working knowledge of general construction; ability to read and interpret written instructions, maps, and service manuals; ability to operate a variety of equipment; a working knowledge of concrete, and asphalt preferred. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, machinery, excessive noise and all types of weather conditions is expected. Both positions require a CDL Class B within 6 months of employment.
COMPENSATIONStarting wage $13.39 with room for advancement to a Maintenance Worker II and Senior Maintenance Worker position. Guaranteed raises every year. Starting wage based on experience. The City of Hays offers great benefits including health insurance, KPERS, Paid Time Off & Holidays. Visit
