Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the department management, the payroll specialist performs professional accounting work to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the organization.  

Minimum Education:
Required: Has an associate degree in accounting or related field required or five years of previous accounting experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Required Skills:
Needs to be proficient with computer.

Essential Functions:
  • Works closely with the HR Department to manage the bi-weekly payroll process for the organization.  Includes timely completion of the payroll system closing,  reconciliation of payroll totals and payroll posting for each company.
  • Creates and reconciles ACH payment files and submits timely to bank.
  • Submits Federal and State tax withholdings to appropriate agencies on a timely basis.
  • Maintains and reconciles deduction reports and submits withholdings for disbursement.
  • Prepares and reconciles all corresponding payroll reports after completion of payroll processing.
  • Creates, reconciles and submits all quarterly and annual payroll reports with appropriate agencies including Form 941, Form W-2 and Unemployment forms.
  • Prepare special payroll processing as requested from HR.
  • Performs other accounting functions as time permits including account analysis and reconciliation, maintains spreadsheets/logs, prepares and inputs journal entries, updates supporting schedules and provides revenue and expense analysis.
  • Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of ideas or plans; modifying one's own behavior to accommodate tasks, situations and individuals involved.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and critical thinking through self-direction initiative and effective interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities, comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Financial Information/Insurance (information related to insurance, billing and payment): Billing Information, Payer Name, Payer ID, Account Balances, Plan Elements Covered, Payment Information, Payment Rates

Coding Information (clinical information that is in (alpha) numeric format): ICD-9 Codes, Rev Codes, CPT Codes None:
Clinical Information (information that describes a patient’s health status): Diagnosis, Reports/Medical Notes, Test Results, Problem List, Procedures, History and Physical

Functional Demands:
Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.
