Hess Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer to support the design, analysis, and coordination of civil and site-related components for industrial and infrastructure projects.   • Room for growth and advancement within a growing organizationJob Purpose: The Civil Engineer generates designs and analyzes implementation processes for geographic infrastructure development and related construction projects. Ensures safety of people and equipment in all plans and actions. 
 
Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 
  1. Designs blueprints and models for roadways, water-run off systems, and any other related projects. 
  2. Performs all aspects of CAD functions as needed. 
  3. Performs calculations and detailed analysis of project components to ensure compliance with applicable codes and specifications, as well as federal, state, and local regulations. 
  4. Reviews drawings and plans provided by others to identify errors and prevent any waste of time or need for rework in the field. Verifies all design files for accuracy, and thoroughness prior to release for construction. 
  5. Creates 3D models of project sites to guide GPS equipment through various project stages.  
  6. Compares elevations/grades throughout each project phase as relative to design plans. Ensures work is performed accurately and efficiently. 
  7. Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections indicating relation of topographical contours and elevations in comparison to other items in design plans. 
  8. Required to maintain accurate knowledge of governmental regulations, codes, ordinances, and other applicable items. Applies this knowledge to produce compliant designs and blueprints. 
  9. Works with project managers, inspectors, company management and officials to make clear plans and resolve issues to continue project execution.  
  10. Provides costing information for materials and labor based on customer specifications for quoting purposes. 
  11. Utilizes a variety of engineering software programs and applications including CAD, TOPCON, and others. 
  12. Performs general surveying and geographic mapping of construction/development sites. 
  13. Maintains confidentiality and protection of all business intellectual property, including blueprints, models, trade secrets, etc.  
  14. Other Duties as assigned. 

Qualifications and Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from ABET accredited university and 2+ years of related experience.  
  2. Familiarity with TOPCON Survey and Geo-Mapping Software. 
  3. Proficiency with 3D CAD systems, finite element analysis, calculations, and mechanical design projects.  
  4. Demonstrate a strong mechanical background and/or aptitude. 
  5. Candidate has demonstrated an exceptional work history along with a strong desire to grow within the Drafting department. 
  6. Demonstrated consistent ability to identify problems and provide sound solutions. 
  7. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers and management with the ability to provide public speaking and customer presentations when needed. 
  8. Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, procedure manuals and job instructions and basic problem-solving skills. 
  9. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  10. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  11. Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products.   
  12. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
