Position Overview
Responsible for coordinating the activities of the nursing team to maintain a high standard of care. Ensure the facility has enough nurses on-site to provide care for all residents and support nurses in their learning and skill development. Contribute to residents' satisfaction and minimize the risk of errors and omissions. Foster a sense of teamwork. Prioritize residents and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Helps write, implement, and interpret nursing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
· Supervises nursing staff, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Med Aides, and Certified Nursing Aides, ensuring they provide quality care.
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance resident care.
· In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the ADON assumes the responsibilities of the DON. Including but not limited to taking call and covering floor shifts as needed.
· Responsible for developing and implementing infection prevention programs, educating staff and residents, conducting surveillance, investigating outbreaks, and ensuring compliance with infection control policies and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
· Adult Care Home Operator Certificate required or ability to obtain in 1 year.
· Current Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of Kansas, BSN preferred.
· Current Infection Preventionist Certificate required or obtained in 6 months.
· Current BLS Certification
· 3 or more years of previous experience in all aspects of geriatric care nursing.
· Ability to read and communicate effectively, with strong written and verbal skills.
· Intermediate computer knowledge with the ability to learn systems used.
