This position is a full-time non-tenure track faculty appointment teaching 24 credit hours (4-4 load) per year in undergraduate and graduate course in the Art and Design program. Expected expertise in experimental explorations, creative processes, and practical applications in photography. Duties include mentoring students, engagement in scholarly activities, providing service to the community, the profession, the college and the university. Collaborative engagement across disciplines and within the art and design area providing cohesive student development is expected. We are looking for a candidate who can foster growth in the photography concentration and has the ability to adapt to new developments in the field and incorporate them into teaching and practice.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a completed MFA degree by August 2023.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in photography or digital imaging;
  • Evidence of teaching at the university or college level in digital photography and traditional darkroom (undergraduate and graduate courses);
  • Expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Lightroom and Photoshop;
  • Knowledgeable about lighting in both fine art and commercial applications;
  • Evidence of creative accomplishments in the field of photography;
  • Experience maintaining a traditional darkroom and digital photography studio.

About the Program:
Art and Design is housed in a new state-of-the-art facility with an attached art gallery which opened in
fall 2019. This 47,000+ square foot art facility—along with the newly constructed 12,000 square foot sculpture facility—is equipped with the latest technology and innovation in studio art and design.

Art and Design offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts with six concentrations: Graphic Design, Motion Design and Animation, Interior Design, Photography, Studio Art (Drawing, Printmaking, Painting, Sculpture, and Ceramics), and Studio Art with Teacher Certification. We also offer a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, Art Education or Art History. Our innovative Master of Fine Arts program allows students to enroll year-round or as low residency in some of the programs.  We also offer a Master of Liberal Studies with a concentration in Art/Art History.
