Join our dynamic team as the TigerTech Director, a full-time, permanent staff position within the Department of Technology Services at Fort Hays State University. While primarily an on-campus role, there may be opportunities for occasional remote work. You'll report directly to the Assistant Vice President of Technology Services and CIO, ensuring a strong support system.

As the Enterprise Technology Support Director, you'll lead a team of 6 dedicated full-time staff and 10-15 student employees. Whether working independently or collaboratively, you'll apply your troubleshooting skills to effectively resolve technical issues. Staff management will be an essential aspect of your role, involving task and project assignment, as well as issue escalation. Clear and concise communication with faculty, staff, and students will contribute to the overall success of your position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Some of the primary duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: 
  • Manage/Supervise TigerTech staff
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of tier 2 desktop support and tier 1 phone support for faculty, staff, and students
  • Design, obtain, and implement technology systems for internal operations of TigerTech.
  • Collect data metrics and make decisions and/or recommendations based on the data regarding Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.
  • Occasionally take service calls for situations that require escalated level of support.
  • Research, evaluate, and answer questions regarding various user technologies (hardware and software) for the entire university.
  • Procure hardware (laptops, desktops, associated peripherals) for the entire university and maintain a stock of common products and peripherals.
  • Develop University standards for end user computer hardware
  • Work with Tech Services Management team to provide unified solutions to various technological challenges
  • Serve as Project Manager for larger projects within TigerTech (e.g., campus computer refreshes, major software change rollouts, etc.).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • 5+ years of experience providing Enterprise level technology support.
  • 3+ years of management/supervisory experience consisting of supervision of multiple team members.
  • Must be eligible for employment in the U.S.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Demonstrated ability to make high-level, complex, technical decisions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral 
  • Familiar with a variety of types of hardware and brands of hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, keyboards, mice, webcams, etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise on a wide range of operating systems and software
  • 7+ years of experience providing Enterprise level technology support in PC and Mac environments
  • 5+ years of management/supervisory experience consisting of supervision of multiple team members.

APPOINTMENT DATE:  August 2023

SALARY: Base salary starts at $70,000 annual salary, negotiable depending on experience.
