Job Description: Thomas More Prep-Marian Junior High (2A co-ed Catholic school, enrollment 140 in 6th-8th grades in 2023-24) is seeking a full-time 6th grade teacher to instruct students in all aspects of English Language Arts and illuminate Christian teachings. This assignment includes teaching ELA to 6th graders as well as another to be determined content area. A strong cross-curricular approach is desired as well as the ability to teach other skills necessary for success in high school, college, and career.
A successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor`s degree in English education, English, Communications, or related field and be certified (or able to obtain certification) in Kansas. A Master`s degree is preferred and will command a higher salary, as will teaching experience.
Successful candidates will have an ability to teach elements of reading, writing, grammar, and literature, while also organizing substantial projects and experiences that are interdisciplinary and high school preparatory. Teachers at TMP-Marian are expected to develop caring relationships with students that allow them to demand greatness. TMP-Marian believes that giving multiple pathways to success will help students of all levels persevere in school and in the future.
Experience and/or interest in a wide variety of technological tools is a plus. TMP-Marian uses Google Classroom with students having access to Chromebooks on a 1:1 ratio. Students will learn 21st Century communication skills in a variety of platforms. Comfort with existing and willingness to learn new technologies is a must.
