The City of Russell is seeking professional and community-oriented individuals for the position of Police Chief. The City seeks an active and experienced law enforcement professional with demonstrated leadership and communication skills, who is committed to collaborating with the community, other agencies, and organizations to prevent crime, and strategically addressing crime in a manner that will assist in building and maintaining strong neighborhoods. The successful candidate must be open to new and progressive visions of policing, and be skilled at community outreach. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to delivering just, fair, and equitable police services.

Applicant is expected to hold, or if licensed from another state be capable of acquiring, a certification for law enforcement officer as per K.S.A. 74-5607a, supplemented by broad and extensive supervisory experience in police work, four years of which must have been in administrative and management capacity with a comparable size department. 
Applicant must pass a medical and drug screening, background investigation, and psychological evaluation. Applicants must also establish residency in Russell County 6 months from hire date.
