A successful candidate must possess superior organizational and time management skills and be flexible with changing priorities and revised deadlines. Have a keen eye for detail and notice errors and inconsistencies in projects. Must be able to plan effectively and handle more than one project at a time. Must have the ability to meet deadlines in a team environment. Must be able to follow directions both written and verbal. Must possess good math skills and ability to make accurate computations. Mechanical aptitude is also a bonus. A solid understanding of design principles and ability to prepare documents for print also beneficial for this position.
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Education can be substituted for experience as deemed relevant by the department. The job involves standing, stooping and bending during both loading and unloading of paper source and output areas. Must be able to manipulate sheets of paper weighing approximately 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience in the printing trade in some facet.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Publisher, Illustrator and PhotoShop.
- Ability and/or interest to learn how to operate and assist with an offset press.
- Excellent customer service and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate high-speed digital toner black and color devices. Setting correct job files, paper and finishing.
- Set up and operate finishing equipment: collator, paper cutter, inserter, stitcher, folder, score/perf machine and paper drill.
- Set up and operate mail addressing machine. Sort and prepare nonprofit mailings to meet US Postal standards.
- Cut paper for upcoming printing jobs.
- Trim finished pieces to correct dimensions and package for delivery.
- Follow schedules in order to maintain a consistent workflow for campus Printing Services projects.
- Collaborate with supervisor and coworkers during the various stages of production.
- Manage and maintain quality control standards for campus printing projects.
- Work to eliminate potential production issues by monitoring paper and proper use of margins, colors, spacing and alignment ensuring compliance with equipment needs.
Salary: $16.03/hour
Appointment Date: The start date will be determined after acceptance of an offer and successful completion of a background check.
