Midwest Energy, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Assistant. The Engineering Assistant has primary responsibility for reviewing, organizing, and developing reports of electric system outage statistics, substation inspection information and load data to be used by Engineering and Operations, senior staff and the Board of Directors. Other duties include providing clerical support to other members of the Engineering & Energy Supply department such as organizing and scheduling meetings, tracking department invoices and monthly expenses and receiving department visitors, correspondence and phone calls.
High school or equivalent is required. Two years of post-secondary education in business, math or statistics and communications is strongly preferred.
Three or more years’ experience with emphasis in data management, record-keeping, and administrative support. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
Knowledge of office practices and procedures is required. An understanding of computer procedures is required. Should be able to acquire, within a reasonable timeframe, a thorough understanding of electric system reliability statistics and reporting. Expert level of knowledge in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
Must be able to handle a variety of diverse activities with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to organize work and to meet daily, monthly and annual deadlines is required. Must possess strong PC skills in word processing and manipulating large amounts of data with spreadsheets and the analytical ability to identify irregularities in statistical information. Must have the ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. Valid Kansas Driver’s License is required.
Usual office working conditions. Some overtime may be required.
