The Materials Engineer monitors concrete blend performance, designs, and directs testing of concrete blend processing procedures, designs quality assurance tests, evaluates technical specifications and costs relating to product or process design objective, and regularly collaborates with Batch Plant Operators, and customers to ensure concrete blends meet all job requirements.
- Monitor concrete blend performance
- Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to troubleshoot issues with concrete blends
- Design and direct testing of concrete blend processing procedures
- Design quality assurance tests for testing raw materials and concrete blends
- Evaluate technical specifications and costs relating to product or process design objectives
- Design appropriate methods for joining materials used in concrete blending processes
- Review new product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on customer objectives
- Plan and implement laboratory operations to develop procedures that meet cost, product specification, and performance standards
- Communicate regularly with Batch Plant Operators and customers for information concerning upcoming jobs and to keep current on necessary concrete blends
- Maintain communication with vendors for pricing information
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required 2. 5+ years’ experience developing prototypes, conducting DoE and developing test matrixes.
3. Knowledge of material testing and standards, preferably with cement / concrete or similar materials.
4. Experience in designing experiments to challenge material attributes and use
Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
6. Willingness to collaborate and work with others. Personable, professional, and customer service oriented.
7. Proficiency with finite element analysis, calculations, and structural design projects.
