Position Description: Fort Hays State University seeks a Career Advisor to serve as a member of the Career Services team. As a member of the Career Services team, the Career Advisor will assist with providing career advising to FHSU students, alumni, and outreach audiences, in both one-on-one, group-based, classroom and online settings, on topics including job and internship search strategies, professional image and interviewing, writing professional correspondence (resume, cover letter, personal statement, etc.), career readiness competencies, and professional development.   The Career Services team and the Career Advisor also plan and facilitate on-campus and online career fairs and professional development workshops and events, including supporting the Tiger for Tigers Clothing Closet.  This is an on-campus position, employee will report to the Fort Hays State University campus to fulfill job duties. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:  
·         Bachelor’s degree  
·         One year of relevant experience 
 
Preferred Qualifications
·         Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs or related field. 
·         Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures. 
·         Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely. 
·         Demonstrated ability in effective presentation, facilitation, and communication (oral presentation). 
·         Knowledge and experience providing professional development and job search support to college students. 
·         Experience with Handshake, social media platforms, and data collection. 
 
Appointment Date: Start date will be determined after acceptance of an offer and background check clearance.

Responsibilities
·         Coordinates and organizes on campus & online mock interview events and multiple on campus & online industry specific internship & career fairs using Handshake. 
·         Facilitates annual first destination survey for all undergraduate graduates of the university, collecting next destination data on approximately 1,600 graduates each year.  Uses Handshake and Baseline surveys to collect data, as well as phone calls and social media searches.  Complies data and distributes to campus community and posts online. 
·         Utilizes Handshake to send monthly newsletters to students.  Acts as a liaison to employers by helping them post jobs, set up interview schedules, and review student resumes through Handshake. 
·         Facilitates multiple career-related events including, workshops, classroom presentations and etiquette dinners incorporating topics relating to job and internship search strategies and the career development process.  
·         Collaborates with departments throughout campus to offer job search counseling in both academic and non-academic buildings during office hours and scheduling job search and resume workshops on evenings and weekends.  Works with individual faculty members to provide required mock interviews and resume reviews as part of class assignments. 
·         Responsible for training and supervising student staff in providing excellent customer service in reviewing resumes and calling for the first-destination survey.   
·         Utilizes software to analyze student learning outcomes for resume and cover letter reviews.   
·         Helps maintain high-quality and up-to-date career print and online resources and collaborates with faculty and employers to regularly evaluate and update the job search information presented to students.   
·         Works with the Director to represent Career Services at orientation programs, university and community events, providing relevant information to students and parents regarding job search and professional development services available to students.
