Join Our Team as Director of Public Works – City of Ellis
The City of Ellis (pop. 1,958) is looking for a dedicated and skilled leader to oversee our Public Works Department. As Director of Public Works, you'll manage a team of ten while playing a hands-on role in essential city services, including sanitation, water and wastewater utilities, streets, recycling, parks, cemeteries, and more.
This is a working supervisor position, meaning you’ll lead by example, working alongside your team as needed. Additional responsibilities include:
- Building inspections & code enforcement
- Approving building permits
- Attending City Council & Planning Commission meetings
- Serving as Zoning Officer & Cemetery Sexton
Qualifications required include:
- CDL preferred. Must be able to obtain a valid CDL during employment if do not have a CDL prior to employment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age by application date.
- Drug/alcohol testing required after provisional offer of employment.
- Residency required within 30 miles of the Ellis City limits.
