The AVP serves as a member of the Vice President of Student Affairs executive leadership team and is responsible for leadership and operations of auxiliary services at FHSU. The AVP supervises the medical and front office staff within Health and Wellness Services, along with supervising and budget oversight for the following functional areas: Health and Wellness Services, Memorial Union, and Residential Life. In addition, this position also oversees the dining, bookstore, and tiger card contracts. This is a full-time, unclassified, 12-month appointment, reporting directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • A Master’s degree in Higher Education, Administration, Student Personnel, or similar field.  
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience working within auxiliaries, with progressive responsibilities. 
  • Experience in budget development and fiscal management within auxiliary services.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers and medical providers in a professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Doctoral degree in Higher Education, Administration, Student Personnel, or similar field from an accredited university.  Consideration will be given to ABD or candidates with significant progress toward Doctoral degree, depending on level of relevant experience.
  • Significant senior-level management experience in Auxiliary Services areas.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across campus, as well as in the community.
  • Lead and actively manage staff in the execution of goals by creating a supportive and collaborative environment for success and professional development.
  • Formulate data-driven decisions for allocating staff and financial resources to achieve Auxiliary Services goals.
  • Experience in budget development and fiscal management, including auxiliary services.
  • Experience investigating and adjudicating academic and behavioral misconduct cases.
  • Experience using various software systems and processes; Maxient, Point and Click, StarRez, etc.
  • Evidence of sensitivity and a demonstrated commitment to a diverse university community that values inclusion.
  • Develop a culture of evidence through various assessment initiatives for continuous quality improvement.
  • Experience implementing, maintaining, and providing technology acquisitions.
  • Experience overseeing operations according to Health and Wellness Services policies and procedures. 
  • Experience maintaining compliance in regard to FERPA and HIPPA.
  • Experience managing inventory and ensuring appropriate inventory levels.
  • Experience running reports and analyzing data to inform decisions.
  • Experience performing and analyzing assessment data to formulate change.
  • Experience working with state and federal agencies to maintain dispensary and testing certifications.

Responsibilities:
  • Leading and actively manage staff in the execution of goals by creating a supportive and collaborative environment for success and professional development.
  • Possess and convey a positive, motivational and inspirational attitude to the Auxiliary Services cluster. Lead by example and maintain the division’s collaborative culture and work ethic by providing a caring and supportive environment.
  • Formulate data-driven decisions for allocating staff and financial resources to achieve Auxiliary Services goals.
  • Assist with oversight of auxiliary services budgets.
  • Serve as an investigator for academic and behavioral misconduct cases.
  • Adjudicate conduct cases as needed.
  • Develop a culture of evidence through various assessment initiatives for continuous quality improvement.
  • Work with Health and Wellness staff and the Kansas Board of Pharmacy to maintain certification for the Institutional Drug Room.
  • Direct and oversee operations according to Health and Wellness Services policies and procedures. 
  • Advise and implement the department technology acquisitions; provide oversight and support of the electronic health record systems, including as it relates to FERPA and HIPAA requirements and regulations; train staff as needed to sustain reliable operations. 
  • Maintain a secure, accessible system of confidential medical records in accordance with applicable standards of practice and state and Federal laws.
  • Coordinate with the Medical Director to maintain departmental compliance with the rules and regulations applicable to the prescription dispensary, CLIA laboratory testing, and 340 B site certification.
  • Coordinate the department’s regulatory compliance programs as needed for HIPAA, OSHA, FERPA and disease screening.
  • Assist in the development and administration of the department’s annual budget; monitor and track revenues and expenses; prepare documentation for the Student Government Association’s semi-annual student fee review; review and approve departmental expenditures.
  • Initiate and update as necessary appropriate contractual agreements necessary for the operation of  Health and Wellness Services.
  • Assist in ensuring an appropriate inventory of medical supplies, equipment, and medications, including appropriate procurement, storage, security, and maintenance of inventory.
  • Establish, review, and appropriately revise administrative, clinical and operational policies, procedures, and protocols for Health and Wellness Services.
  • Direct the preparation and management of the Health Services budget consistent with university goals, policies and department mission.
  • Serve as a liaison with the community, health care professionals and agencies for the purposes of offering services, making effective referrals and coordinating health care resources.
  • Serve as a resource for the university community on issues of health promotion, disease prevention, safety, and health advocacy.
  • Coordinate with other campus departments in meeting the health needs of the campus community, including such services as immunizations, and health status assessment.
  • Assist in grant and resource development, management, and reporting processes.
  • Recommend and implement program policies and procedures in compliance with college/district policies and procedures, state/national accrediting/approving agencies and local healthcare facilities rules and regulations; interpret department policies and objectives to other college departments.
