Job Description: The BSEL Interventionist Assistant works under the direct supervision of the WCKSEC’s Behavior/Social Emotional Learning Interventionists. Job duties include, gathering and charting data related to student behavior, modeling behavior intervention strategies and assisting classroom staff and instruction support staff in implementing individual student's behavior intervention plans and individual education plans.
Essential functions:
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and the community.
Ability to develop positive, respectful relationships with staff members, parents and students.
Ability to interview parents and/or teachers to gather pertinent information.
Ability to observe referred students to obtain and analyze behavior data and aligns interventions and curriculum with this data.
Work cooperatively in writing and implementing individual education plans (IEP’s), behavior intervention plans (BIP’s) and functional behavior assessments that align with the students’ needs and curriculum.
Performs extensive record keeping, scheduling, copying, etc. to support the BSEL Interventionists in maintaining student files and providing classroom materials.
Works with individual students to reinforce learning of material or skills as described in the IEP/behavior plan.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in special education, psychology, social work or a related field with background knowledge and field experience is preferred.
