This position is responsible for completing the review of incoming Institutional Student Information Records (ISIR), verification and eligibility processes for administering Title IV federal financial aid, as well as processes related to NCAA compliance. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, a self-starter, and able to work efficiently in a busy environment. The Verification Specialist needs to be detail-oriented and accurate with the ability to work within a highly technical computer environment. The employee in this position reports to the Assistant Director of Financial Assistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High School Diploma
· One year of experience in general office support. College coursework may be substituted at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree
· One year of financial aid experience
· Detail-oriented and accurate with the ability to work within a highly technical PC and mainframe
· Self-motivated and able to motivate others
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to work and supervise staff in a team-oriented environment
Appointment Date: The start date will be determined after acceptance of an offer and successful completion of a background check.

Rate of Pay: $14.00 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Reconcile federal aid application data against supporting documentation, including income tax returns, tax transcripts, wage statements, and government assistance programs.
· Review and process applications for professional judgement.
· Monitor and interview students for homeless status as FHSU’s homeless liaison.
· Communicate with students and parents regarding the verification process.
· Correct inaccurate information with the Federal Processor to ensure student eligibility for federal and state financial aid programs.
· Review and resolve several ISIR transaction comment codes, using independent judgment based on federal and state regulations and make adjustments to aid as necessary.
· Review files to resolve various eligibility issues due to rejected files, which includes verifying information with the Social Security Administration and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
· Cancel aid for students not attending through 20th day clean-up processes.
· Supervise and train part-time and/or student employees regarding federal and state regulations related to verification.
· Complete NCAA compliance process related to financial aid awards for student athletes.
· Other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Assistance.
