The Department of Nursing (DON) is seeking a Full-time, nine-month grant funded program faculty/coordinator position. The Academic Nursing Faculty/Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the Rural Simulation Residency. This includes oversight of the Simulation Preceptors and assistance with simulation facilitation. The Academic Nursing Faculty/Coordinator reports to the NEPQR-SET Project Director (PD). The Academic Nursing Faculty/Coordinator functions as an unclassified member and works closely with faculty, staff, and students. A successful candidate should have clear English communication skills required, including (among others) abilities to speak, hear and observe students in clinical settings. This is an on campus position located on the campus of Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.
Minimum Qualifications:
- License to practice professional nursing (RN) in Kansas.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing with over 3 years of clinical experience.
- Physical capability of lifting and moving manikins, simulators, equipment and supplies for the lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Nursing
- Supervisory skills
- Simulation experience
- Excellent technology skills and ability to learn new software
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience with event planning

Responsibilities:
Obtain relevant education in simulation facilitation, simulation development, and simulator functionality. Assist the PD with recruitment of Simulation Preceptors and participants of the Rural Simulation Residency. Assists with training of Simulation Preceptors. Develop semester schedule of simulations available to participants. Develop simulation scenarios for key partners. Assist the PD with community education planning.

About the Department: Fort Hays State University Department of Nursing serves undergraduate students in a traditional on-campus BSN program and a virtual RN to BSN program. The department offers a Master’s of Nursing Education degree and a Master’s of Nursing Administration degree. In summer of 2016, the department launched a Doctorate of Nursing Practice program with an emphasis as a Family Nurse Practitioner for BSN to DNP students. At that time they also launched a Post Master’s Doctorate of Nursing Practice program for APRNs.
