Teach a full time course load of 12 credit hours per semester for introductory and advanced biology courses in subjects such as biology, molecular biology, botany, genetics, and bioinformatics to meet department needs, including lecture and lab sections of Biol180, Biol685, Biol250, Biol325, and Biol607.  Supervises undergraduate and graduate research students in various project capacities. Perform departmental and university service and maintain an active scholarly activity agenda: 60% Teaching, 20% Service, and 20% Scholarship/Research. Demonstrate collegiality, professionalism, and a strong commitment to teaching excellence and the university mission. Communicate and collaborate with faculty.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in biology, molecular biology or closely related field. Experience teaching general biology courses (majors and non-majors).

About the Department:
The Department of Biological Sciences has 16 full-time faculty positions representing the disciplines of anatomy, botany, ecology, microbiology, molecular biology, physiology, and zoology. The department offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in biology. Graduate teaching assistants facilitate undergraduate labs; additional graduate assistantships are available through the Sternberg Museum of Natural History, the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, and donor-supported research fellowships. In the department, several colleagues with research interests in the biomedical sciences are supported by K-INBRE funding (https://www.k-inbre.org/). Available departmental research resources include a microbiology and molecular biology research equipment, extensive aquatic and terrestrial sampling equipment, excellent computing and GIS facilities, outstanding technical support, large museum collections for plants, insects, and vertebrates, a tract of native prairie, greenhouse, and other related resources. The department is housed in Albertson Hall, which includes technologically enhanced classrooms and laboratories. We are one of the only regional institutions to teach Human Anatomy course with eight cadavers. The department employs a full-time lab coordinator, an office manager, and a half-time greenhouse manager.

FHSU is located in Hays, a vibrant college town of approximately 20,000, located halfway between Kansas City and Denver on Interstate 70. Hays is the regional center for education, health care, professional services, shopping, culture, and recreation for the western half of Kansas.
