Fort Hays State University, Residential Life Custodial Supervisor, full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with occasional weekend hours required. 

This position oversees and assists the custodial staff and student workers in the daily operations of the Residential Life Custodial department.  The primary function of this position is to supervise the workflow and needs of the custodial team assigned to a given area.  This position will frequently interact with students, staff, faculty and campus visitors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Three years of custodial experience, including lead worker or supervisory experience and/or training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to organize daily, weekly and monthly tasks to ensure that deadlines are being met
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with materials, equipment and practices used in custodial operations

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Primary responsibility of Custodial Supervisor is to coordinate and assist in the cleaning of the assigned building in such a way as to promote health and safety.
  • Oversee, organize and schedule the work activities of employees and student workers engaged in cleaning, minor maintenance and other related tasks.
  • Oversee time and leave for the custodial team.
  • Provide on-site inspections of facilities, rooms, storage areas, fixtures, hallways and custodial equipment to examine work results.
  • Facilitate standard safety practices and the correct use and care of all equipment, tools and supplies utilized.
  • Work with University staff in order to clarify, monitor and complete work requests.  Resolve any complaints or problems regarding custodial staff.
