 The Assistant Director of Marketing is a key leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that enhance Fort Hays State University’s (FHSU) visibility, student engagement, and enrollment. This role oversees marketing initiatives across multiple channels, ensuring alignment with the university’s goals for strategic enrollment growth, student retention, and brand elevation. The position requires an individual with strong project management capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to effectively balance multiple priorities. Effective when working independently and with a team.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Must have at least three years of professional experience in marketing or related field and demonstrated experience with digital marketing platforms and tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline.
  • Five years of professional experience in marketing or related field.
  • Proficiency in SEO, web content management systems, and data analytics.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Industry-related certifications such as Google Ads, Google Analytics, or HubSpot.
  • Ability to analyze and articulate data
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and related applications

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to support student recruitment and retention goals.
  • Create integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, and traditional platforms.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators to assess campaign effectiveness and ROI.
  • Oversee SEO strategies, web presence, and user experience enhancements to maximize visibility.
  • Collaborate on content development for social media, email, video, and other digital channels.
  • Stay informed about emerging marketing trends and tools to ensure innovative practices.
  • Lead marketing initiatives from concept to execution, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Serve as a project manager for cross-functional campaigns and initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor marketing team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and creativity.
  • Build effective partnerships with campus departments, stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Ensure marketing efforts align with FHSU’s branding and communication standards.
  • Collaborate with creative services to produce high-quality visuals and messaging.
