Fort Hays State University is seeking two Coordinators of Student Engagement and Belonging to join the Student Engagement team. As a member of the Student Engagement and Belonging team, the coordinator will assist with all areas within the department. The Student Engagement and Belonging staff oversees student events, leadership development, fraternity and sorority life, student organizations, transition, and family programs. Student Engagement is the central-hub of student organizations and activities. Our centralized programming board works collaboratively to organize our student activities, organization support, and leadership/community service opportunities to provide educational experiences. Fraternity and Sorority Life is one of our top organization’s students choose to join. There are over 120 student organizations, including 8 fraternities and sororities, on campus. Our team provides resources, support, and information on how to become an engaged leader on our campus. This is an on-campus position; the employee will report to the Fort Hays State University campus to fulfill job duties.
Responsibilities:
The coordinator will be responsible for providing expertise on student organizations to increase student belonging and engagement for the University. Duties include actively implementing initiatives promoting conditions that positively impact student success through the learning environment. Will assist in establishing and engaging in both long-term and short-term solutions. Will support the director in providing expertise on student belonging, engagement, and success climate through innovative research, assessment, action plans, and student development for all students at Fort Hays State University.
- Provide support to student organizations.
- Coordinate Tiger Link support and training.
- Provide support for Fraternity & Sorority Life.
- Facilitate Sorority Recruitment in compliance with Panhellenic Association regulations alongside the Assistant Director.
- Serve as a member of the Homecoming committee and facilitate student activities in relation to homecoming.
- Develop, implement and plan student activities/events throughout the year.
- Coordinate Parent, Family, and Friend programming support (e-newsletter, Family & Friend weekend, family education sessions).
- Assist with training workshops, outreach, and support for student organization advisors.
- Serve on committees within and externally to the division.
- Provide evening support to the Student Engagement and Belonging office as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four years of Higher Education experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
- One year of Student Engagement/Student Affairs experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs or related field.
- Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability in effective presentation, facilitation, and communication (oral presentation).
- Knowledge and experience in campus event programming and/or leadership education.
