The Graduate School and Office of Scholarship and Sponsored Projects (OSSP) is looking for an individual that works closely with others in the graduate office to support the strategic initiatives of the University and external funding opportunities. The Grants Coordinator is an on-campus position that helps work with faculty, staff, and students to close out projects; works with Primary Investigator (PIs) to establish new project accounts; works with PIs to file electronic monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and final reports; revises policy and a policy manual on cooperative agreements, teaming agreements, federal and state disclosures and regulatory compliances, protection from research risks assurances, and other assurances, representations and certifications regarding product sharing, equipment loans, human subjects, animal subjects, intellectual property, and scientific misconduct.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate workshops or training programs (one to include the Business Office) for all researchers on the research principles for grants and revisions.
  • Provide technical assistance to faculty to obtain no-cost extensions from federal agencies and assist with budget amendments, annual reports, and final reports.
  • Review, negotiate, and finalize grant agreements and sub-awards.
  • Monitor post-award grant compliance of graduate student research internal grant spending.
  • Oversee the creation and modification of sub-awards.
  • Manage sub-recipient performance (cost, schedule, delivery, and technical performance reporting).
  • Assist with time and effort compliance reporting.
  • Maintain necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials pertinent to grants office activities.
  • Work with The Graduate School and OSSP Director to update policy and procedures manual to ensure Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance for all federal agencies, State of Kansas, and university and Kansas Board of Regents policies and procedures.
  • Partner with select university committees pertaining to research and scholarship, including serving as liaison to the Scholarship Environment Committee (SEC) and managing the Undergraduate Research Experience (URE).
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and professional development where appropriate.
 
Research Compliance
  • Assist with the coordination of IRB processes, conducting pre-review checks, and assisting researchers with application preparation and submission.
  • Assist with maintaining IACUC records, minutes, correspondence, reviews, databases and files.

Other Duties
  • Assist with special projects, including the Graduate Scholarly Experience (GSE), John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activities Day (SACAD), Kansas Capitol Graduate Research Summit, Kansas Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol.
  • Additional duties, as assigned by the Director of the Graduate School and OSSP.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • One year of professional work experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited Institution.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with a team.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize a variety of duties.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgement and be a self-starter.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Passion for scholarship and creative activities, and graduate education.

Salary: $50,000
